DAY 4 -- Mother Nature Has a Mind of Her Own

I consider myself a pretty good gardener, but I'm no match for mother nature. My annuals this year -- impatiens, coleus, salvia -- are alive and gradually, very gradually growing. We've had tons of rain, but growth is very slow. What am I doing wrong -- nice flower beds, good soil, plant food, water, you name it.

Mother Nature shows me up by planting her snapdragons in my concrete retaining wall! Now how did those little seeds ever worm their way through the cracks to find a bit of soil to germinate in? And they're growing like crazy -- the snaps in my flower bed are still really small, and these interlopers are well over a foot tall.

How cool! I guess Mother Nature decided to add some color to your wall for you. Nice of her! :)
