DAY 25 - Not the usual yardsale merchandise

I've seen alot of strange items at yardsales, but what I found today was a first for me. And no, they did not come home with me! It gives me the creeps just looking at the pictures. . .

A yellow burmese something or other (python or boa)

Hissing cockroach -- big sucker about 3" long. . .

Some kind of a lizard. . .

And finally another nasty looking snake. . .

They were all contained in glass aquarium type cages, and even though the owner was quite anxious to get them out for me to play with, I passed!

DAY 24 - Alan Cottrill Sculptures

When you drive down 6th Street in downtown Zanesville, you can't miss these bronze sculptures in front of the Alan Cottrill Studio -- I've posted a link to his website if you want to learn more about him. This gentlemen has been instrumental in the creation and promotion of Zanesville's Artist Community.

And this sculpture is on the top of the building --

DAY 23 - The Squirrel

These ears of field corn are out for the woodpeckers and blue jays -- this squirrel (I think there are two of them, actually) thought they belonged to him. He cleaned off three ears of corn and made himself at home in my birdfeeder.

Day 22 -- Anyone need a car?

This old car has definitely seen better days. I'm not sure if it's an old stock car or maybe a demolition derby car. What struck me was its number -- 3/4.

DAY 21 - Back Off, Lady!

Talk about perfect timing. I was looking in my folder of Blog pictures for today's topic, and my neighbor's black male cat showed up and posed for me. He's really a sweetheart -- that's a yawn, but he looks like he's roaring, doesn't he.

He was quite accommodating -- letting me shoot pictures from every which way. I swear at times he was posing for me. He's intently staring across the little patio at the flower bed where the bird feeders are.

Here he's hamming around -- how he managed to not roll off the top of the retaining wall is a miracle!

DAY 20 - Zane Trace Players "Kismet"

Zanesville has two amateur community theatre groups -- Zane Trace Players and Zanesville Community Theater. Zane Trace Players took on a very ambitous play this summer, the Arabian Nights themed Kismet. It's the typical boy meets girl scenario (in this case the Prince and the daughter of a poet), boy loses girl (the evil wazir of police marries her, not by her choice), boy gets girl (unhappy father takes care of wazir!). I thought I'd post some shots from dress rehearsal.

The prince and his beloved, Marsina --

The Wazir of Police --

The bangle Merchant (the song Bubbles, Bangles, Bright Shiny Beads) --

Some assorted dancers and beggars --

The evil Wazir of Police marries Marsina --

The three warrior princesses of Ababu --

The poet father and the Wazir's philandering wife --

A rival princess who wants to marry the prince --

Curtain call --

The Director, 90 years old, and still going strong --

DAY 19 - More of those 7 ft. vases

Here are some more of those Weller-inspired 7-foot-tall vases painted by members of Zanesville's artists community.

These two are in front of Gitty's Diner --

Another in front of the main office of a local bank --

Another at the entrance of a large local law firm --

In front of the 4th Street Diner, I believe --

And finally, this one was on the porch of one of the local artist's studios --
