DAY 84 - Have a Bootiful Day

This is the sign board outside a local dentist's office. They always have a cute saying posted. I thought this one was really appropriate for now. And here's a few more Halloween shots. . .

DAY 83 - Draft Horses

After working hard all day, these draft horses were relaxing and munching down in their pasture.

DAY 82 - Halloween's a Coming

Every year there seem to be more houses that decorate for Halloween. These are just a few shots from our travels yesterday when we went out to lunch and to run errands.

DAY 81 - Old Zanesville Post Office

When I first came to Zanesville, 35+ years ago, this massive old building housed the Zanesville post office. It had the military recruiting offices, and other sundry agencies.

It's a beautiful, old building, now covered in ivy on the front and side. It looks like it's falling into disrepair -- that's really too bad. I'm not even sure if it is still occupied. The ivy on the steps leads me to believe that it is not.

DAY 80 - Downtown Railroad Bridge

North of the Y-Bridge is this old railroad bridge that crosses the Muskingum River. I'm not sure how old the bridge is -- it's been there "forever." Just look at the those huge concrete piers.

North of the bridge is the dam. The dams were built for flood control on the river.

DAY 79 - More of Those Big Vases

We found more of those tall vases on our travels around town. This first one is in front of a Dominos Pizza shop on Maple Avenue.





This one featuring the pottery industry is in front of Community National Bank on Zanesville's north end.

And this one is in front of Brenwood Hair Salon.

DAY 77 - Have You Powerwashed Your Horse Lately?

Earlier this summer we took a weekend trip up to Holmes County, Ohio's Amish Country. Across a little country road from the store I had stopped at was a large Amish farm . As I zoomed in on the barnyard, I was surprised to see the young Amish man hard at work powerwashing his buggy! Now, the Amish don't use electricity or drive cars, but using a gasoline powered device, like a powerwasher or a generator, is okay.

I went in the store, did my shopping, and then decided to take some more shots of the farm. What I saw next was totally unexpected. He was powerwashing his buggy horse. Now, before you yell "animal abuse" let me say that he was standing far enough away from the horse so as not to hurt him. In fact, the horse seemed to be quite content to be washed down with cool water on a hot day.
